U is for Unbroken

I am participating in the A-to-Z Challenge again this year. My theme is My Favorite Books. Most of the books I will be posting about, I have read more than once. After all, they are my favorites.

U is for Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.

Unbroken, published in 2010, is the true story of Louis Zamperini. This unassuming gentleman was a Olympic track star and a World War II hero who survived many days in a life raft in the Pacific Ocean. He was eventually rescued by the Japanese and spent a couple of years in prisoner of war camps.

The book details not only these events, but Zamperini’s childhood and his life after the war. I felt as if I knew and understood Zamperini after I finished the book.

The sub title of the book is A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. An exceptional read!

  1. I can’t even imagine that–being a prisoner of war. Wow. I’m betting the story is amazing.
