I normally don’t watch a lot of television. But it is the Winter Olympics, so my TV viewing time is greatly extended right now.
All week I have been glued to the boob tube and cheering on the Olympians. During some segments that I was not interested in, I would do a bit of channel surfing. Magnum P. I. filled the screen and brought back so many memories. Tom Selleck was the 1980’s heart throb. (heavy breathing, quicking heart beat…)
This morning, I had just finished watching ice dancing, and skipped to another channel. OMG – it was Tom Selleck again. There is a Jesse Stone marathon on. Jesse Stone–as played by Tom Selleck–of Robert B. Parker’s book series. I am in heaven.
In 2005, I saw the first Jesse Stone made-for-TV movie, Stone Cold. Not only was I excited to see Tom (yes, we’re on a first name basis, at least in my dreams) again, but I enjoyed the story line. Having discovered that RBP was the author, I immediately read the book. And then another book of that series, and another, etc.
I also enjoy the music in the Jesse Stone movies. The original music is by Jeff Beal. Listen to the following, especially starting at about 1:20 in. The music is kind of haunting, but relaxing at the same time. (By the way, Jeff Beal is also the composer for the House of Cards series.)
So having accidentally come across Tom in Magnum P.I. reruns, and again in the Jesse Stone marathon, I know there is Magnum kismet going on here. My dreams are gonna be sweet tonight!
